CRACK offline mode, Chill Mode, and controls

Offline Mode, Chill Mode, camera and Y-axis options, and controller support in CRACK, from Rafoli's launch patches through 1.0.43.

10/28/2026 1.0.43 Last updated: 10/28/2026 2 min read

Offline Mode

v1.0.43, posted October 27, 2026, adds an Offline Mode option so you can play solo without a connection. In that mode, the pause menu pauses the game. Connection timeouts, changed in 1.0.31 and 1.0.35 before Offline Mode existed, are on co-op.

Chill Mode

The same 1.0.43 post calls Chill Mode a more relaxed game and lists the differences:

  • No bedtime. The day clock shows the shift summary instead.
  • No sleep aid fee.
  • Puzzles stay on their easiest difficulty, and buying from the shops no longer requires solving them.
  • Bots never break down.
  • The egg gets agitated half as fast.
  • Failing an event such as a productivity audit has no penalty.
  • No pipe bursts or scaffold breaking events.

Those bullets are also the systems that exist when Chill Mode is off: bedtime, a sleep aid fee, puzzles that can be harder, shops, bots that can break, an agitation rate on the egg, productivity audits, pipe bursts, and scaffold breaks. The core loop puts the fee and the shift clock next to the crack-and-upgrade economy. The default sleep aid fee was lowered from $20 to $5 in the same patch, which still applies when Chill Mode is off and the fee is charged.

Control options from the hotfixes

  • v1.0.31 added an invert Y-axis toggle in the controls menu.
  • v1.0.35 added “Reduce Camera Motion” in the general menu, “to help with motion sickness.”
  • v1.0.35 also says snake turns respond properly in multiplayer after the patch, with a lower top speed.

The store lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense. Steam Deck results are on release and platforms.

Vulkan

v1.0.43 adds a Vulkan launch option for graphics cards that have trouble with dx11. The same week, v1.0.36 reverted a bad fix for AMD 9000 series cards. Minimum GPUs are still the Steam table on system requirements.

The redacted item in 1.0.31

The October 26 hotfix says an item printed as REDACTED was made “unshreddable, to prevent softlocks.” The same line is in the patch notes. The beginner guide is the shorter job brief.
