FAQ

Why are my Collector Bots idle after purchase?
Players report they start on their own when an empty Bucket is available on the ground. Delivery Drones then move full Buckets toward the sell/depot area. There is no separate activate button in those posts.
Is a host-only transparent egg a corrupted save?
Several hosts report missing tissue while clients still see the egg. Community replies suggest hitting remaining membrane/flesh, or finishing a day on the Vulkan launch option. Official posts also document missing calcite for some hosts—update first.
Does CRACK run on Linux?
Steam lists a Linux build and Deck verification. One Bazzite player said the native build failed to load a save, while Proton (Windows build) worked.

Player reports

Update CRACK before trying workarounds for launch-week bugs. The patch notes cover changes to Work Orders, audio, and saves.

For the published shift loop, start with the core loop and progression priority. For robots, use Workbots.

Workbots and Buckets

Collectors look idle after you buy them

Thread: How do I activate the collector bots after purchase? — posted about October 28, 2026 (author asked in Russian and English).

The marked answer (Brudokeg) says Collectors auto-start when there is a Bucket on the ground they can pick up, and that a Delivery Drone then hauls Buckets toward the selling area. Dot Esports’ bots guide says Workbots are autonomous and need a few minutes after purchase (How to use Collector Bots and Delivery Drones, published October 26, 2026).

Do not treat “standing at the station” as a broken purchase until a Bucket and loose resources are available. Details and Chalazite upgrades are on Workbots.

Work Order wants a Workbot upgrade, but every bot is maxed

Thread: Is there a way to de-level a workbot? — OP dated October 24, 2026 (DarkCalx).

Update first. Version 1.0.53 fixes robot and cart upgrade Work Orders so they complete when everything you own is already maxed out. You no longer need to hold back an upgrade for that order; see Workbots.

Before 1.0.53, players used the workaround of leaving one bot below its maximum level. The October 24 thread and its October 28 replies describe that earlier problem.

Scaffolding and Bucket lifts

Thread: Bucket conveyor attachable to the schafolding — about October 28, 2026.

Players are asking for a way to carry Buckets up scaffolding. A reply hopes Delivery Drones will lift Collectors with Buckets. Supported builds are on scaffolding and reactions.

Egg display, saves, and graphics

Host sees a hollow / transparent egg

Thread: Save Broken? — OP October 26, 2026 (Monkeychow01); still active October 28.

Multiple hosts describe shell present but tissue and inner layers missing or see-through, while joining clients still see the egg. GPUs named in replies include RTX 3060 Ti, 4090, and 5080—so this is not limited to the AMD/Intel cases in the patches.

A CRACK community mod reply points at the launch-week calcite / vein rendering fixes for some AMD and Intel hosts and asks for GPU details if it is still transparent on the latest build. Players in the same thread also report:

  • Hit remaining visible membrane / flesh near the bottom so chunks reappear.
  • Exit, launch with Vulkan, finish a day, sleep, then return to the normal launch option (Zedd).
  • One player notes Support Spikes can drop out of place when the egg “reloads” after a fix attempt.

v1.0.35 and v1.0.43 both mention missing calcite for some hosts, and 1.0.43 adds a Vulkan launch option. Update and try Vulkan before deleting a save.

Host / join crashes

Session timeouts Rafoli documented are on co-op.

Linux, Deck, and audio

Linux / Bazzite save load

Thread: is the game playable on linux — about October 28, 2026.

Reply (Spiesyy): there is a dedicated Linux build and Steam Deck verification, but on Bazzite the native build failed to load a save; forcing the Windows build via Proton worked. One report. Store platforms are listed on release and platforms.

Sound effects go quiet

Update before trying the older workarounds below: 1.0.53 fixes sound effects cutting out after long sessions and in solo play.

Progression stalls players misread

Tissue deposit stuck at 0 / wrong material

Thread: Deposit $105 worth of tissue: No progression — OP about October 27, 2026.

OP thought Tissue deposits were not counting. They later wrote that more than one tissue-like material exists and they had to dig deeper. A reply distinguishes pale greyish Membrane from pinker Tissue and says Tissue needs a Mk 2 Shovel. Dot Esports and Sportskeeda’s walkthrough (October 28, 2026) describe Tissue as the red/pink layer past Membrane, with Workbot Storage after a $70 Tissue deposit. Follow the Work Order wording, not every pink-ish pile.

Slot payout Work Order

Thread: Win 100 dollar on a single slot machine payout — about October 28, 2026.

Older guides and the October 28 thread describe a single $100 payout. Version 1.0.53 lowers the Work Order target to $50. Follow the amount shown in your active Work Order; the walkthrough’s target table lists the changes.

Version 1.1.0 also lets the prize wheel count toward the payout order and adds protection against getting stuck on a run of bad luck. Treat the payout as an objective rather than steady income; see progression priority.
