CRACK game robots: Workbots, Collector Bots, and Drones

How CRACK Collector Bots and Delivery Drones unlock, idle, repair with a Wrench, and level with Chalazite—from Dot Esports, Whisper, and Steam threads.

FAQ

Can you control Workbots in CRACK?
No. Dot Esports states they operate on their own with no per-task controls.
How do you repair a broken Workbot?
Hit it with a Wrench when Condition is depleted. Chill Mode stops breakdowns entirely per patch 1.0.43.
How do you upgrade Workbots?
Apply Chalazite crystals found in the egg (use the Deposit Scanner). Cash upgrades vehicles, not bots. Max level is 5 in the Whisper guide.

What robots do in CRACK

Dot Esports (published October 26, 2026) describes two Workbot types that automate transport, not excavation (bots guide):

  • Collector Bots — find an empty (or fillable) Bucket and load loose resources into it.
  • Delivery Drones — pick up full Buckets and take them to the Resource Depot.

Whisper (last updated October 27, 2026) stresses the same limit: bots do not break intact Tissue, Bone, or other layers (Workbots). You still dig; they move material. Rafoli’s pre-launch post also names automated robots; see the core loop.

How to unlock and buy them

Step Guide
Excavate Tissue with Shovel Mk 2 (layer past Membrane) Dot Esports, Sportskeeda, Whisper
Deposit ~$70 of Tissue → Workbot Storage Dot Esports, Sportskeeda, Whisper
First Workbot $100, then $150, then $200, rising Dot Esports, Whisper
First commissioned bot advances a Work Order / Specialty Catalog Whisper

Sportskeeda’s outline puts Workbot Storage after Tissue and before heavy vehicle/automation spending (walkthrough, published October 28, 2026). For overall buy order, see progression priority.

Why a new bot stands still

Steam thread How do I activate the collector bots after purchase? (about October 28, 2026): the marked answer says they auto-start if a Bucket is on the ground, then drones haul to the selling area.

Whisper’s checklist for “Looking for Work” at 100% Condition:

  1. Provide an empty or partly filled Bucket near loose material.
  2. Excavate so Collectors have debris they can reach (elevated piles may be hard for small Collectors).
  3. Give newly bought bots a short time to wake up (Dot Esports: a few minutes).
  4. Confirm Depot processing—drone delivery alone may not finish a deposit interaction.

Repairs and Chill Mode

Dot Esports: Condition drops while bots work; when depleted they break and need a Wrench strike. Whisper separates Charge from Condition—wrenching Condition does not fix every power state.

Patch 1.0.43 Chill Mode: “bots that do not break” (modes and controls, patch notes). Default mode still needs wrench maintenance.

Whisper notes Delivery Drones can snatch a Bucket you wanted for emergency repairs (flood / crushed Shell). Keep critical Buckets under player control during events (scaffolding and reactions).

Chalazite upgrades

Unlike Golf Carts (cash upgrades; v1.0.35 lets you upgrade carts from anywhere), Workbots level with Chalazite from the egg. Dot Esports and Whisper both say use the Deposit Scanner, dig the crystal out, then interact with a bot below max level.

Different crystals provide different upgrade amounts, up to the level-five cap. The dedicated Chalazite guide covers finding and applying them.

Upgrade order with every bot at max

Earlier players reported being stuck when an upgrade Work Order appeared after all bots were already maxed. Rafoli’s 1.0.53 notes fix robot and cart upgrade orders in that situation. Update before attempting to de-level a unit; the old workaround of leaving a bot under level 5 should no longer be required.

Completing the first Workbot purchase leads toward the Toolbox and construction equipment. For the whole route, use the walkthrough.

Scaffolding height vs bots

Players are asking for Bucket conveyors on scaffolding (feature request thread, ~October 28). Keep ground-level access for Collectors, or carry more by hand from high platforms.
